THANK YOU FOX NEWS CHICAGO!
Thank you for protecting us! Thank you for defending Decency & Honor. Thank you for digging so deeply into our national fabric, dare I say into our national SOULS! Thank you for alerting us to the danger of teenagers dancing! Thank you for warning us the dancing footage might be too much for more sensitive viewers! Thank you for unearthing and EXPOSING and Dragging to the LIGHT an activity that may lead to, of all things...pre-marital sex! Your codes are our codes! Your values are but a mirror of what real Americans feel in their hearts! Thank you for advertising this GROUNDBREAKING and HISTORICAL and unfliching and most of all BRAVE news feature up to a week in advance. We all needed, nee---were REQUIRED as GOOD CITIZENS to be made concerned that this threat may destroy the generation we so desperately need to SHAPE UP, GET SERIOUS, FACE REALITY and fight the war for the next several years on our behalf. Without your bold and courageous journalism this entire LUMP of youngsters may have been lost to the mists of DECADENCE that claimed so many during Viet Nam, The Installation of the Shah Of Iran, The Faulkland Islands War, The Russian Invasion of Afghanistan, the Liberation of El Salvador and Nicaragua, the Liberation of Panama, Waco, The Los Angeles Riots, Desert Storm (among others) that sapped our STRENGTH and nearly RUINED our Great & Free Land! As one humble American, I can only thank you from the depths of my being. God Bless.
P.S. Please consider doing a feature on the atrocities that these people with their "peace wreath" in Colorado are inflicting on their Decent and Hardworking neighbors. Thank you. Once again, With Gratitude, from one awed viewer.

there was really a news story on teenagers dancing?
ps - good thing i don't want around for phone calls, or i would have been waiting around all night. : )
not true my dear I called you around 8:45 last night., it rang twice and a voice told me you hadnt set up your voice mail yet. So, yeah.
i didn't get a missed call on my phone, that's strange.
PS, Im here at work eating cereal and youll all be happy to know Im using SKIM MILK. Its not nearly as bad as I remember.
Actually Jackie, I think it was around 8:10 when I called.
apparently when i call my own voicemail to set it up, it goes to some girl named tina's voicemail.
well you can call me again tonite if you feel like it.
and now you know why i don't dance!!!
i love skim milk. and soy milk. i can't do 2% anymore.
and i love to dance. you should see me when i go to gossip shows. whoa mama.
I really hate it when Pitchfork warps what someone is doing to fit their perverse pro-corporate view of the world.
what in gods name did they do now?
(ive been trying to stay away from them)
Just read the Joanna Newsom live review that went up today.
Seriously, it made me sick reading it. If I hadn't already heard her music, that review alone would really turn me off.
Well I read it and I didnt see any warping or attempt at warping, (shes not exactly George Maciunas is she). All I saw is a pissy snivelling, boring writer blathering on about a pissy snivelling, boring singer. Oh and all the pissy, snivelling, boring "zeitgeist" "context" that surrounds the simple act of going to a fucking concert.
Now you know Im always up for a ride on the Fuck Pitchfork train, so D, if you desire, expound on where you see warping taking place? It'd be more interesting to read than what they wrote.
I just think Pitchfork views Newsom as someone who's pissing on indie sensibilities and that's why they celebrate her so much. But I personally don't see that at all in her work or her demeanor. In fact, she's said tons of stuff about how fucking idiotic and downright cynical this whole zeitgeist mentality is that Pitchfork and other websites have...and she acknowledges that while she works in a different idiom than most performers in "indie rock," she doesn't view what she does as bringing the scripture down from the mount or whatever. And she's a huge Neil Young fanatic. So she's cool with me. Just because those jackasses worship her for the wrong reasons doesn't mean she should be tainted by that unfortunate association.
Come On Baby Light My Fire
All's I know I hate the fucking precious and overwhelmingly safe product of joanna and her ilk (devendra, sufjan, anyone with a harp and cute outfit basically).
The only person who does predominantly "quiet" music who has any guts, soul, blood, intelligence, beauty, or artistry is Mirah, and for the most part, shes left to dry out on the vine. She wipes the floor with these tossers. I truly believe 99.9% of her audience does not understand how special and creative she is. No real grasp of how much valid content is stuffed into her songs. In a way though, thats cool, I wouldnt want to have to wade through pitchfork's analysis of her and what she "means".
Also, Elton John and Noel Gallagher are Neil Young fans too, so big fucking deal, har har har.
I mean Stanley Crouch liked Miles Davis, doesnt make him any less of a myopic arse-licker. Dick Cheney is a huge Johnny Cash fan and so forth.
I realize this could seem like a pissy scree. Its not, just so everyone knows.
tim, if you're around, are you coming over to help rich with splish tonight? we kinda need to know.
i just wanted to write to see what my new pic looks like.
and who the hell is joanna newsome?
some boring old gym sock
oh, adn i love the beth ditto pic.
ok, well i assumed she wasn't worth checking out anyways.
thanks! i'd rather have her face on here than having to look at mine.
Oh, one thing...a couple posts back D mentioned the new Evens album. I've been listenting alot to it, and it an outstanding and yes, important album.

I completely concur with Richard AND drago. It is an excellent album (and on a small note one of the best beginnings to any album anywhere ever)
YES--- The beginning. Possibly the best song he's written. A song of absolute and total truth. The much abused word applies here--- righteous.
Probably the most accurate reflection of our surroundings since One Beat. I will join the chorus.
I think Cut From The Cloth alone blows the doors off of One Beat.
Tim may very well be right.
I wasn't saying that One Beat is as good, guys, or making any comparison in regards to anything other than pure context. Just pointing that out.
Yeah I know. And its a valid thing to point out. Not enough people have painted honest pictures of where lives are at in the here and now.
But to will compare them (just for kicks) One Beat is a really good aerial painting whereas Cut From The Cloth is the tightest sharpest most in focus close up photograph I can think of.
Which I guess means one isnt bette rthan the other, but oh well fuck ity we aint pitchfork
Yeah, One Beat was certainly much looser, to continue the fabric motif we could have going here. And I think Ian is creating the best work of his life right now--which really isn't saying much, since all of his past work is staggering. A tiny part of me is now hoping Corin joins the Evens, if only to see what'd come of it.
has anyone here ever read "the end of art" by donald kuspit? damn, did that guy get things wrong. i can barely continue reading it and i'm only two pages into the second chapter. i mean, i can't agree with everything duchamp said, but he was right about some things. this guy thinks he's wrong about everything--and was never creative. yeah, duchamp wasn't creative... i wonder what the hell this guy "creates" besides bad arguments. according to him only music and musical painting are true art. and i bet if he wrote a book about music the only real music would be classical.
D and tim, i'm sending out yr cd's this afternoon. so expect a fun mail surprise!
i wanna see some dancin
rich, you got the tickets for the music box double feature already, right? since it's through ticketmaster and all... just wanted to make sure.
No I havent, I should probably go on ahead and do that. Thanks, Liz
The Evens are playing DC on 12/16, and airfare on Southwest is $50 each way. Who's going with me?
Er, I meant 12/15. I type too fast.
