Yes...The Answer Is Yes

Oz Magazine...the greatest literary achievement of the 20th century that didn't involve Gysin & Burroughs. Their archive of (almost) all 48 issues is FINALLY up on the internet (finding issues on E-Bay etc has been largely futile). Do yourself a massive favor, expand your consicousness, explode your limitations, and fuck the imitations by clicking on THIS LINK---http://www.oztrading.net/Library.htm

That looks fucking amazing, just from the covers!

And I know it's been a couple of days...but man, those bitchforks sure dropped the ball on that Johnny Cash San Quentin review. Talk about missing the fucking point of something.

I have a new love in life, his name is Graham Greene.

im back to work and not at home sick! i wish i could say i'm not ill still, but alas here we are.

i made pumpkin soup last night and i think i had a food orgasm. and i have so much left over!

Deanna said...

Hi Jackie! I'm glad you're feeling better.

Is pumpkin soup not the greatest thing ever?

Jackie said...

seriously, i think it was the best food i've ever made. except my fucking roommates suck. i told them i was making a dinner (like i have several times before) and then they don't come home for it. i felt like a lonely housewife cooking for her husband and he doesn't come home or call.

but my friend paul did come over and enjoy some with me. i think i hate my roommmates just a little bit more now.

and i would kill someone or fuck someone for a box of kleenex.

Deanna said...

Yeah, it has been a bit of a ghost town over here lately. I was hoping we could all talk about the new love of my life or something.

Deanna, are you coming with us tonight

Deanna said...

Yeah, I probably will. I asked Matt if he wants to go, but I haven't heard back from him about it yet.

Jackie said...

i hate when at work someone tells you do something a certain way and then someone tells you to do it a different way and then they look at you like you are retarded for doing it the "wrong" way.

D said...

Ha, that's the entirety of my job responsibilities, it seems.

Jackie said...

i hope you guys have fun tonight with crispin. i wish i could come!

Jackie said...

i'm trying to fight the urge to cut my hair tonight. but i really want to!

D said...

I fight that urge on a daily basis, if it makes you feel any better.

Will this day ever fucking end?

so about your new love, d... are you talking about graham greene the writer? why don't you tell us about it.

que ferions-nous sans vous pour nous guider? said...

and i want to trim my hair, too. my hair is boring.

Graham Greene wrote some of the best sentences since Joyce. One of my biggest pet peeves about literature is that no one knows how to write a fucking sentence anymore--and I'm referring to all stripes of literature, from the most straight-forward narrative to the abstract. And I'm not saying that most writers are bad, because we all know that many brilliant minds have been producing beautiful things with words in the last century. But some writers just know how to turn a phrase, how to perfectly capture the exact nanosecond in a story, and Greene was one of them. And he handles even the most horrific subjects with a delicacy that few other writers can come close to. This conclusion having been made after only reading one film treatment and one short story. I'm DYING to read more.

we should think about taking this everywhere you go. There is never enough time for me--or else you could understand the time stance better. There's a logo that hangs underneath the clock of when I was five years of age and that helped the people around understand me crystal clear with no questions! Although I wouldnt mind being asked some questions--they always open up the air for everyone far more than I initially expect.

Paragon of animals indeed! I would I were a buzzsaw. For the scratch on my neck is borrowed. And Denmark doesnt really even exist! Hence thus and so the potty in my mouth is giblets.

Freude, schöner Götterfunken
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Himmlische, dein Heiligtum!
Deine Zauber binden wieder
Was der Mode Schwert geteilt;
Bettler werden Fürstenbrüder,
Wo dein sanfter Flügel weilt.
Chor

Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
Diesen Kuss der ganzen Welt!
Brüder - über'm Sternenzelt
Muss ein lieber Vater wohnen.
Ihr stürzt nieder, Millionen?
Ahnest du den Schöpfer, Welt?
Such' ihn über'm Sternenzelt!
Über Sternen muss er wohnen.

Wem der große Wurf gelungen,
Eines Freundes Freund zu sein;
Wer ein holdes Weib errungen,
Mische seinen Jubel ein!
Ja, wer auch nur eine Seele
Sein nennt auf dem Erdenrund!
Und wer's nie gekonnt, der stehle
Weinend sich aus diesem Bund!

Freude trinken alle Wesen
An den Brüsten der Natur;
Alle Guten, alle Bösen
Folgen ihrer Rosenspur.
Küsse gab sie uns und Reben,
Einen Freund, geprüft im Tod;
Wollust ward dem Wurm gegeben,
Und der Cherub steht vor Gott.

Froh, wie seine Sonnen fliegen
Durch des Himmels prächt'gen Plan,
Laufet, Brüder, eure Bahn,
Freudig, wie ein Held zum Siegen.

Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
Diesen Kuss der ganzen Welt!
Brüder, über'm Sternenzelt
Muss ein lieber Vater wohnen.
Ihr stürzt nieder, Millionen?
Ahnest du den Schöpfer, Welt?
Such' ihn über'm Sternenzelt!
Über Sternen muss er wohnen.

Wow, someone had a good time last night.

Have any of you guys seen Fassbinder's work? I know Glover mentioned him last night during the Q&A. I really like what I've seen so far.
