Save the Date

april 18, a friday, is the uic art + design bfa thesis show. i may or may not have work in it. i was under the impression that if you aren't graduating this semester (that's about 8 students out of 40) then you don't show anything, but then yesterday i was told that i do show work, followed by "well, let me ask the other professors." so, whether i show work or not, you should all try to stop by. i'm sure there's a reception or something before it opens up. free food is nice, even if you're not a college student.

also at uic: jackie has her job interview at the jane addams hull house museum in a few hours, so wish her luck!!!

wow. nice image on this post!!!

liz, let us know when you find out if you'll have work in the show--I'd definitely love to go and see then. otherwise--uic aint exactly in a "stop by" location; plus college student thesis shows...well that sums it up perfectly.

hahaha.... so true. well, regardless if i have stuff in this show, the fall 2008 graduates have to put on their own mini-thesis show in december, so i will definitely be in that. i understand if you would rather hold off.

are you guys going to the boredoms show? if you already have tickets let me know so I can get mine.

I think so. I have no idea. I bought tickets like 6 months ago or something. Then they changed the venue. Apparently cuz the people putting the show on are total knobs. So I have no idea if the tickets I bought are still any good. I can't find anywhere on the net to confirm if they will or wont be.

Rich, your tickets are fine. The e-mail with the venue change indicated that all will call ticket info is still good.

sooooo.... pilsen.

any thoughts? please tell me it doesn't suck unless it really really does.

pilsen is cheap, but that's because it isn't that safe. but it's not far from uic, and you're a tough woman so i think you could do it. i know a lot of people who live/lived in pilsen.

Pilsen isn't as bad as it used to be, Jackie...and it's not as cheap, either. I hear that public transit is an issue around there (buses and such), but other than that there are a lot of cool little shops and restaurants and art galleries. Still very much working class, though.

I've actually never been in Pilsen, this is just what I hear. But you might wanna try walking around the neighborhood (or any place you might wanna live) at dusk and see what kinda vibes you get.

But then, I'm a tiny white girl who lives in Rogers Park, so what do I know?

What time on Friday, Liz? Since I'm, uh, not working and all...

And what's showing? Or is it a surprise?

Jackie said...

que ferions-nous sans vous pour nous guider? said...

we'll d, if you're not working, then you can come over whenever. but, since simone is coming, maybe we can coordinate with her so i don't have to go to forest park twice? let me talk to her, otherwise, you can come over and help me cook.

Just let me know, Liz! Maybe I can attempt to make those vegan peanut butter cookies again...

que ferions-nous sans vous pour nous guider? said...

that sounds tasty!

Deanna said...

Yeah, it requires a jar of peanut butter, a cup and a half of chopped nuts, a cup (I think, perhaps more) of sugar, and the egg replacer equivalent of four eggs. I subbed pistachios for the chopped peanuts last time I made 'em, and they turned out excellente. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow.
