WHOA

Objectively, I shouldn;t think is cool, but I can't help it---this is pretty fucking cool...

from the London Times

"My time with Dylan is up and we stand in preparation for my leaving the room. As a last aside, I ask for his take on the US political situation in the run-up to November's presidential election.

“Well, you know right now America is in a state of upheaval,” he says. “Poverty is demoralising. You can't expect people to have the virtue of purity when they are poor. But we've got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up...Barack Obama. He's redefining what a politician is, so we'll have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, I'm hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to.” He offers a parting handshake. “You should always take the best from the past, leave the worst back there and go forward into the future,” he notes as the door closes between us. "

I dont know why you "shouldnt" think this is cool. ANYONE who thinks this isnt cool has been left stone-numb from their own cynicism. I on the other hand think this is "cool".

I concur, that's pretty fucking awesome. But then I've pretty much been on the Obama train since the day Richardson dropped out.

I said OBJECTIVELY. In other words...if Dylan or anyone else came out in favour of McCain or any other candidate, it ultimately shouldn't matter. They have an opinion just like I or you do, and thats that. One can ignore it, one can dismiss it, or one can support it. But it's not the smartest thing to get too excited or dissmissive over what strangers say.

It can work in reverse let's say neil young said nice things about mccain...OBJECTIVELY I should not be dissappointed, becuase it should not matter after all "don't follow leaders" etc as someone once sang. EMOTIONALLY or INSTINCTIVELY however, I would probably be dissappointed.

Im excited in part cuz I never expected dylan to say anything about anything. I figured reporters wouldnt even bother asking. And since he did say something, its pretty amazing its something I relate to very strongly. But if he had said something the opposite, one should obhectively say "oh well" and try not to get hung up on it. Dylan isnt my dad.

And obviously I think what dylan said is pretty cool...otherwise why would I have bothered to make a post out of it. I made the post literally minutes after reading the article on yahoo news. So, I happen to think its cool as well, my point is if he had the opposite opinion, what Im never going to listen to Desire again?

I mean, I dont like Charlie Daniels, not cuz of his politics, but his music FUCKING SUCKS. If he had better songs, I would then have to pay more attention to him and worry somewhat about sailing through the choppy waters of his mind. As it stands, his opinions dont anger me and music doesnt move me.

I like Dylans christian albums. dont agree with them whatsoever. Would I love it if Bob did a song called "Christianity Is Fucking Stupid"? Sure. But I dont need him to. I know what my beliefs are. Itd be cool if he did, but it ultimately doesnt matter. I really dont think theres any cynicism in that. Thats letting people be people and letting people form their own minds and letting people be free.

Wouldnt bob himself like it better if we didnt rush in to praise or condemn? Hence the use of the word- objectively.

oh and that last litte part about praise and condemn---apparently this has become a pretty major news story with all the usual dingbat "experts" analysing what the man meant. i dont mean "we" as the people on this blog. "we" more as in "we the people".

oh and if this seems vitriolic (use of caps etc) its not, i just wanted ot make my point clear espeially since the original post was done very, very quickly.

By the way, Rich, that curry turned out to be not half bad, considering it was made by a honkey. Can't really taste the rhubarb in it, though...but at least it didn't all go to waste.
