MEATY!

MEATY!

BEATY!

BIG!

BOUNCY!

In honor of Tony Bourdain having The Motor City Madman himself on an upcoming episode, I'm indulging my inner indignant liberal and posting a link to the ANTI-ANTHONY BOURDAIN VEGAN EXTRAVAGANZA SITE!
HERE IT IS!
http://hezbollahtofu.blogspot.com/

This site is dedicated to taking the meat out of the matter, and I for one am thrilled to try the results!

Also, I find it pretty funny.

---DISCLAIMER---
FOR THE RECORD---
Yes, of course I have been and still am a big of Mr Bourdain. His show is yes, still very much the best on television. Yes, he is a very talented writer. Yes, I read his blog and continue to find him humorous, insightful, articulate, intelligent , etc. Him and I just happen to disagree on a few things. And if I can't have a laugh about that, then what's the point!

the fact that ted nugent is going to be on No Reservations.

But also lame that you have protested
lame with an even lamer blogsite (thank god its relegated to a blog--if they had their own show they could call it 'Nothing But Reservations')

Cmon give anthony the benefit of the doubt and indulge yr inner indignant ________ AFTER you see the episode. Who knows, maybe Zamir is the Nuge of Eastern Europe....

so.... he won't dance or do karaoke but he'll take a naked picture with meat dangling over his junk?

some people's kids.

I don't think the vegan blog thing is lame...Tony has talked alot of shit about vegetarians/vegans etc...if the guy who writes it thinks he can make good food w/o anything dying, more power to him.

But I also find the idea of the blog site kind of hilarious. I mean, there are better ways to spend one's energy. Veganism doesnt need to piggyback off of Tony's popularity. It creates mroe direct competition, and its its own thing. But yeah, I want more options when I walk into a restaurant.

In other words, in the on going cultural debate which is basically variations on Tastes Great Vs. Less Filling, I'm still on the other side of town saying...I dont drink beer, can I have some fucking orange juice, please?

Protesting is a little too strong, I think the blog is funny, I think Bourdain is funny, and god knows the only way to deal with the Nuge is to laugh.

Bourdain is funny is in insistence on certain things---badassness when clearly he is FAR from basassland---that fucking HILARIOUS Dee Snider-esqe "Meat Cock" photo, firing guns in his spare time, his love of the Ramones and so forth.

Bourdain is also funny, because he has a good sense of humor, and he's well...funny. He's charming. I watch his show.

At most I took a playful jab.

I didnt tell anyone not to watch the show!

I plan on watching now and in the future.

Believe me, Tony says all the same crap about vegetarians Ive heard from family members and co-workers and total strangers for 13 years. I've heard it. I give him the benefit of the doubt every single time he sounds off on the subject. I'll be doing so again when hangs with the Nuge (and holy fuck, I've seen some Nuge footage that is un paralelled in its hatred of anyone who isnt eating beef off the fucking bone---hateful hateful hateful). Would Tony give ME the benefit of the doubt? Not bloody likely. Maybe, who knows. I'd like to think so.

So all in all, posting a link and cracking a few jokes is pretty tame which is what I intended from the off.

oh and the indignant liberal thing was a joke, someone actually signed that as their name on an AOL news comment, and I thought it was funny they were calling themselves that in a serious manner.

Once again, I was being silly not venemous.

And finally, I found out about the Vegan Bourdain site a few days ago, and was kinda looking for an excuse to post it, cuz I was genuinely curious about what people on here would say. A few days ago I was just going to post the link and say nothing else. Finding out abotu Nugent was like I said, a good excuse.

i don't get what the problem with this post is. i didn't think anyone was protesting anything. if anyone is protesting something it's bourdain, whose show is a weekly protest of american vegetarianism because he mentions it in some way every show. rich was just telling us about some blog, and so what if it's dumb? just mentioning it is not "lame." bourdain doesn't even "want to know" vegetarians or vegans unless he has no choice, like if he's in india or some other part of the world where that diet is "normal." he threw out all videos for the fan-based show if they were vegetarians. is that not a protest? is that awful photograph not a protest? he won't let anyone get past "veg-" if they use it to describe themselves. so why should anyone give him a chance if he doesn't do the same for others? i think he's funny and i agree with his criticisms of vegetarianism, but he is guilty of the same thing rich is supposedly guilty of on this post, which is generalizing and not experiencing before making judgments. you could argue his show if full of reservations too. he mentions them every week. his are just different for rich's and that vegan blog.

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

what is rich guilty of? the vegan blog's fine-- the defense is not necessary. and even if I'd poke a funny title at it--you dont need to take it personal. rich and i spoke in detail about this. just see him for details. it would be cool if you spoke in such detail in public as yr twice yearly rants on the blog

que ferions-nous sans vous pour nous guider? said...

that's cuz you guys always talk about people i don't know!

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

hmm.

que ferions-nous sans vous pour nous guider? said...

rich always asks why i don't talk, and i say it's cuz you guys talk about your past a lot, like old friends and things you did in high school/before i met you guys. he denied it, but it's true. i mean, i don't mind that you talk about that, i like to hear the stories. i just can't add to them. rich showed me some picture of jon on the web and asked me what i thought of it the other week, and i had no opinion because i don't even know him and wouldn't have known that was his picture if rich hadn't said it. and when you talk about art it's mostly stuff i'm not familiar with, so again, i never know what to say. i like hearing what you talk about, though. sometimes i actually retain the information and look it up on the internet. i was just baffled by this post and it's proceeding comments, that's all. but basically, that's why i just keep quiet--i'm either ignorant or confused.

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

well whatever.

que ferions-nous sans vous pour nous guider? said...

rich does this too, so it's not an attack on your response to my comment--this is mostly why i don't say anything. it's better for everyone that i just think and not speak. i misinterpret and am in turn misinterpreted. sorry for thinking you were serious about those "lame" comments.

I really dont get what yr arguing liz. its almost like yr giving anthony a piece of yr mind through me. i never requested that rich remove the link to the vegan site, i even scrolled through it for 15 minutes. Rich explained that as a vegetarian one tends to be extremely defensive and sensitive from dealing with silly comments all the time from dipshits. Im assuming this is VERY much the case here. Only I like to think of myself as NOT one of those dipshits. Im not about to crown yr vegetarianism as some noble effort in any way shape or form but Im also not going to castigate my nearest and dearest friend for it (or anybody really--fuck! i eat meatless dishes a plenty). a post is a post at most

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

yeah, now i see, clearly you should just keep yr trap shut. (or you could just speak freely without taking things personal)))))))

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

not to stretch shit out. when I did say "lame, totally lame" this morning. i was quoting cartman from the awesome-O episode. when i saw the picture of Nuge first on: cartman's voice hit me. thats about as persecuting as my comment was coming from

i thought this post was meant to be funny. at least i thought it was!
