i just watched atonement. kate was right: it's not even worthy of being a lifetime movie. god it sucked. really. the only thing it had going for it was the photography. and all the critics thought it was great. were they paid to say that? jesus christ... the card i gave rich for his birthday told a better story.
awesome video, jackie!
betty white is just so great. are you going to be home tomorrow.... it's pretty much the only night this week i can call you.... hopefully.
http://www.cookingvegetarian.com/i want to go to this restaurant. anyone up for a trip to the dells????
Did someone say gluten-free menu? How the fuck does one get to the Dells? I'm curious to see how it compares to Dollywood.
Wow, Amtrak has a station there. Jackie, when do you want to go?
i'll make the trip, but not until school is over.
ooooh the dells is great. such a weird little resort town. there is a gay bar there called "captain dix" that i'm dying to go to, haha.i'm willing to go whenever... but we can wait a few months until liz is done with school.
so i'm going as rip taylor for halloween. it's going to be amazing.but i need help on wardrobe. i have the moustache already and wig. but seriously... the clothes??? what do i get?i watched the chalet 2000 episode of kids in the hall to get an idea of him "in action" and i'm pretty sure i can queen it up as good as he does. but oh lord, the clothing. i mean we fat chicks always get stuck with the nastiest bedazzled "blouses" or tent dresses but i'm at a loss for what to do.any help?
and yes, i plan on somehow making a "holy mackerel".
I just e-mailed Rip Taylor!Ok, I'll shutup about Rip Taylor now.
i, as a sensible midwestern woman, love coupons.although we have no whole foods where i live, i thought i would share this link if anyone does shop there.http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/products/wholedeal/index.php
it looks like i'll be doing a solo show. i'm mad.
Why are you mad, Liz? A solo show might mean more work, but won't that look better on your resume? Sorta?Sorry, I'm trying to spin this in a positive light.Ooooooh, thanks for the coupon Jackie! I'll have to print out 1000 of those. It's virtually impossible to get out of there without spending $25.
i'm mad because all the work that goes into putting on a show must now be done all on my own, in addition to the tons of work i have to do for my three classes.
This just in: Das Kapital sold as many copies in the month of September as it typically does in an entire year. Funny.
A couple of quotes from my mom:"Oh, so you're one of those 'radical leftists' then?""I just don't know how you can live with yourself having those beliefs."Aw, I love you too Mom! Can I please be disinherited from your debt? Thanks!
well i give my mom a very surface version of what i believe in.... becuase if i really spoke the way i think, i'm pretty sure she would be scared to sleep in the room next to mine. ha!she was even offended when i call john mcccain "grandpa death". that's nothing!
haha grandpa death, nice one!
i'm going to see dorthea lange's son/assistant speak at the mocp on thursday evening if anyone's interested in joining me. it starts at 6.
Oh damn, Liz, that sounds fun...but I'm going to a show that night.Has anyone heard of a band called the Flatmates? I just stumbled upon one song and kinda loved it enough to order their singles collection. Also, both Au Pairs albums are back in print, on a two-CD set. I thought y'all should know.
i just watched dark victory and it me bawl like a little baby.ps - ronald reagan as a drunk. hilarious.
Hey all, sorry I havent been on here much...as we all know, I ususally sing on during the day and now with the work computers under the "iprism", theres simply no fucking way I do anything on the internet now. Plus, at nights I basically spend working on writing. Anyway, Im going to sart signing on here in the evenings. I have a new post I'm going to put up tonight. I hope you enjoy it. I miss it here!
well, welcome back!
We miss you too, Rich! The David Byrne show was indefuckingscribable. As if I wasn't in love enough with that man.
Oh, and in case anyone else has been wondering where sts has been all these years...she'll be appearing next Wednesday at Women and Children First to promote the new Rock n Roll Camp for Girls book.
Ok I had this kick ass post but I cant find the video on youtube anymore, so I have another post idea I'll just have to put up tonight. And D, yes Ive been wondering what the hell happened to STS all these years. She totally vanished! Also, Corin and Tobi Vail are posting old tour diaries on a blogger site, and Corin has a new backup band?! And a new kid named Glory! -the exclamation point seems to be part of the name
hey all, you probably all know this but i'm just reminding you (but i don't know if tim knows...) that my thesis will be up mon nov 10 thru friday nov 14 (maybe thru saturday, i'm not sure) but the RECEPTION is on thursday night the 13th, 7pm, 400 south peoria (sw corner of peoria and van buren), fifth floor. posters to be made/approved by thursday. bring people since i don't think it will be many more visitors than those i've personally invited or faculty members, who kinda have to be there. if you wanna help me this weekend or early next week passing out postcards, etc let me know. i'll take you out for dinner in return!
we should all go to mr chows for dinner after the reception!
I advocate Venus for post-reception dinner. I tried it last night for the first time and it's pretty damn good. Smells overwhelmingly like meat inside, though.I'll have some free time on Saturday, though at some point I have to get a haircut and my stylist is in BFE.
Also, I forgot how amazing the Au Pairs were. Fuck.
where's mr. chows? and is venus open late on a thursday?
They're open until midnight, Liz.
wow, that's pretty late for a thursday night... i looked mr chows up on google and got results for one in manhattan?? let us know about it, tim.
sorry to get yr hopes up. I was just daydreamingly referring to a restaurant that andy warhol and jean- michel basquiat used to go to a lot in nyc in the 80s. i just finished reading the phoebe hoban biography on Basquiat and theres very detailed portions of the book dedicated to the goings on after gallery openings.
oh, too bad! i was all ready to go visit the chow man.what else did they do after openings?
lots of coke.
hahaha.... i was assuming something like that.
