the huffinton post has some good slidewshows of reactions from around the world. i have several favorites but i think the city of obama, japan wins.

what i especially loved is that anytime mccain said "barack obama" at his concession speech, all those jerks boo-ed him.

and then at obama's speech, when he said "john mccain" everyone clapped.

that really tells you something about character.

oh and i loved how he said everyone was equal and all that and he said, "gay or straight". now that he's the president... he can use the dreaded GAY word! i hope he uses a lot.

i'm so giddy. i slept like 3 hours. i want to just like hug everyone and make them brownies.

The line was so fucking long getting into Grant Park that we got in, literally, ten minutes before McCain gave his concession speech.

Obama was amazing. The crowd was so calm and gracious. I couldn't get to sleep until after 5am.

Sixty-six percent of eligible citizens voted in this election--136 MILLION people.

McCain is said to have won among whites and older voters, but perhaps this election will help demolish the mindset that winning an election primarily on minority votes diminishes the legitimacy of an elected official's power. Remembering sinister whispers about Clinton and other Democrats winning because of the "black vote" as though only the votes of whites ensure a mandate, I hope this idea fucking dies.
