If you don't know who Paul Williams is, let me tell you, he's not the boxer or the former member of The Temptations, Paul Williams is the founder of Crawdaddy magazine (along with Creem and Oz, some of the best writing about music, ever...fuck Rolling Stone and their monopoly, history is written by the winners [or Wenners in this case], and the winners seem to the jagoffs with no vision)...but what I know Paul Williams from best is his extraordinary writing on Bob Dylan in his "Performing Artist" series of books, which, along with Jimmy McDonough and Lester Bangs is basically on the very short list of books about rock and roll. Williams' Dylan books are so magnificent, if you really pay attention, they are almost singularly responsible for changing the perception of the man and his work. Williams is one of the great listeners and interpreters of art in this or any era. He actually makes the idea of music crtique seem essential. Anyway, he is suffering from very severe stages of dementia. He is under full time medical supervision. His family is struggling to pay the bills. This is fucking tragic. He is a truly great man. Please help if you can.

THE BEATLES: A LISTENING GUIDE
In honour of the Beatles albums being remastered, I have decided to pay them the respect they are due, and give the true map for how best to navigate oneself through the greatest body of work in all of rock n roll. It's simple, really...The Beatles wrote the map for us. They put incredible care and thought into the sequencing of their albums, what came out as a single, and what was on the b-side of that single. The Beatles exerted this control primarily in the UK. As a result I have laid out their entire UK discography on Parlophone and Apple records in exact chornological order. I have included artwork when applicable (seeing as The Beatles were always very carefully involved in the visual representation of their music), some Capitol single sleeves are included, if it is known the Beatles had some say in it's visual presentation, and the songs correspond with the UK release. As a bonus, I have included the films or what were back then called "promo clips", and what would now be called "music videos", that The Beatles made. I have found every single one they created. This was either the Beatles making the video themselves or collaborating closely with a director. Many of these promo clips are as breathtaking in their creativity as the records themselves. Enjoy.
