Jim Marshall, the incredible rock and roll photographer died. I just found out. Very sad. I might make a post of some of his stuff.
Oh damn. :-(Rich, you absolutely should.
how was the show, d?
that was me (liz). i pressed enter before i meant to.
Liz, it was pretty good! But someone forgot their earplugs--my ears are still ringing a little bit.By the way, if anyone knows anyone who isn't a total loser and is also capable of paying bills on time and needs a cheap, awesome place to live, I'm looking for a new roommate. Send 'em my way!
i can ask my sister.... unless you say no. which i would totally understand if you did. she's looking for a place (preferably to the north so she can get to schaumburg for work).
has anyone ever heard of 'Apocalypse Now: The Workprint'? Its 289 minutes, longer than redux by half and the soundtrack is replaced by all doors songs, additional characters and events, the attack of the Valkeries scene is 30 minutes long supposedly
Yes, I've seen sections, or portions of it whioch used to be up on an Italian website, but have since long been yanked. It wasnt so much a movie as it was long scenes. Didnt appear to be that much editing. Somewhere between the original print, the work print, the redux and the heart of darkness documentary exists the real film...which in a sense never was totally captured. Which, in itself is a weird kind of purity and perfection. I know the Workprint is available via Subterranean Cinema, and a few other outlets, but as of yet I do not actually have a copy. I will, eventually. A few years ago, I wanted to have an Apocalypse Now party where every extant print and documentary and extra features thing woul be shown...with Vietnameese food served, and the first two Doors albums played quiety, constantly int he background. Everyone would have to wear camouflage, and we would pass out little toy, plastic weapons at the door. That party may yet happen one day, I think it would be the ultimate in endurnce, and commitment, and discipline, and being totally fucking crazy.
I think I might have a hook on the work print. Im just trying to yank it out of the water in "one piece". If I catch it in its entirety--it would equal 330 minutes of raw material to the extent that the timecode runs on the bottom of the screen.
Yes- the fucking timecode! Yes! Wow man, good fucking luck catching the big motherfucking fish! I for one, am pulling for you, big time!
it sounds amazing rich, but if i could barely survive tobacco rudy (sp?) or the paul lynde halloween special (really only the KISS part), not sure i would last.
Liz, if your sister is cool with my cat and helping eliminate cross contamination in the kitchen...and doesn't mind all the noise I make, by all means, ask if she's interested in seeing the place!
