you know me too well.... thank you!
Happy Birthday Jackie! Welcome to Chicago!!
thanks tim! i love being here.
hey tim, i went to that pizza place on sunnyside today (something napoli). i just wanted to let you know it was fantastic! jesse and i knew it was going to be good when they served us cokes in glass bottles.
Jon Swae has a bloghttp://threekidstwodogsoneuncle.blogspot.com/
Spacca Napoli is our favorite--Its the standard by which all other neapolitan pizza in america should be judged. its why I hated that place in evanston so much and why I think the crust at "Lou's" sucks. and I dare say kate likes the place even more than I do.
well, i still like lou's crust! it's just so different... indulgent. i can't have it all the time, you know? but i could eat spacca napoli's crust every damn day of the week! we will have to go with you and kate really soon. and what's the name of the crepe place you were telling us about? i wanted to look it up.
I know how much u guys love the lou crust ("We fight over it"--I believe the quote was). I was careful not to make my opinion of it a definitive statement. we are up for sn any time. the crepe place is called Ikosium Kafe. corner of clark and foster. you can watch a video review of it on the check please site.
we were headed to icosium for my birthday when we decided to go to andies instead.... i love anything with spinach and feta. but i'm excited to try icosium.... and i totally watched it on check please on saturday!
Happy belated birthday, Jackie!I have to say, there are so many Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants in Chicago that make Andie's look like shit. The next time you're in Andersonville, try Taste of Lebanon--no ambiance, but the food is mind blowing. I do love Icosium Cafe, though.
Yes by all means go to taste of lebanon and have the lentil soup and love it forever. (and become chummy with the staff and get free deserts for life.) but no matter how many mediterranean restaurants there are on the planet, andersonville andie's is still quite wonderful!
i thought it was pretty good! we got to sit outside, our waiter was really nice and my turkish coffee was excellent. i had taste of lebanon on my list as well, but i can't eat dinner everywhere!
and i would like to say that i come from a place where granted we have amazing mexican food, but not much in the way of varied, interesting foods, so this whole new culinary world in chicago is wonderful. i haven't had a bad meal here.
I know, I'm reading your Yelp reviews with a wistful envy. I wish I could revisit many of these places again for the first time!
after having the fried plantains at handlebar, i just had to buy some at the grocery store yesterday. i cook a lot at home (because i'm so thrilled to have my own kitchen again) but it's so much fun to go out for dinner here.
i would try andie's or taste of lebanon.
I have a Groupon for Semiramis if anyone wants to help me use it soon...hint, hint.
count me in!
Since Rich won't eat the stuff, we can totally do a girl's day (unless Tim would like to join us as well--dude, you are totally invited and I promise we won't talk about our vaginas). Then I can show off Albany Park--and if it's nice enough that day, I can walk home from there!
i'm not promising i won't talk about my vagina. that's too much to ask.
Just for the record I have no problem with vaginas or the discussion of them.
Fine, vagina away!
tim has always had a good attitude towards menstruation.
So, when are we gonna DO THIS?
i prefer to talk about my vulva.... so i hope that is ok too.
This Saturday? That works for me. Chris might be able to come too, but I don't know yet--his plans are on the wane at the moment. The Groupon is for $35, and they're not very expensive: http://www.semiramisrestaurant.com/menu.htmlI would be happy with just a plate of fries. Sumac/garlic mousse? YES PLEASE.
Sorry Jackie, vulvas are out! It sounds too much like a spanish verb...
OK, Rich just informed me we had plans on Saturday. I'll get back to you, D.
wait... am i invited? or is this like a couple-y thing?? will it make me barf with cuteness?
