Thank you. Amazing things happen when you start putting things together waiting for CDs to upload. I am going to add just a couple more elements. Nothing to offset the balance. Just augment what's already there.

Okay, I just added one more thing. I'm done now. Or am I???

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

o my god I'll like never know......

Rich said...

It's definitive, I added stuff until about 2 in the morning. It now stands like a statue.

For your enjoyment, the man who created BF layin it down on FB (the context is someone suggested a fistfight between Steve Albini and Ted Nugent)

Greg Ginn- David, you already ruined my day with the image of the snotty-irritant hipster in the same room as the rocker dude. Two whore-ific sides of the same DUM coin.

Greg Ginn- Nugent/Albino...two idiots who think that "attitude" creates great "rock"...How f'ing lame...

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

wait, what just happened?

Rich On Liz's Computer said...

On Facebook, Greg Ginn had posted this ridiculous clip of Ted Nugent shooting a keyboard (its also in one of the Lost & Founds), and was making fun of it. Someone commented that there should be a fight between The Nuge and Steve Albini. Greg took the opportunity to throw some darts Steve's way, a couple of which I quoted above. So, I thought it was pretty funny.

ah yes. was tryin a little to hard there at first---seeing BF and then FB...the inversion sent my imagination to creating some sort of bizarro black flag. I blacked out for like ten minutes.

But it was the other FB....
I really ought to start a list of all the things I miss out on by not being connected.

Hey crabby/alienating cat guy: suction yr eyes off lonelinessbook for a day and go digitize some unreleased black flag dubage, drop that action on a paypal account!

There should be an online archive of Black Flag live stuff ala Fugazi, which would also neatly fit into Greg's Jerry Garcia aesthetics. Plus, re-issuing the Gone stuff couldnt hurt either. It's bizarre just how much of his work is completely impossible to get either legally or...creatively

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

yeah that would work! the fact that there appears to be no attention given it in ANY format is preposterous/daunting/exasperating/stupid...talk about "going against the universe"...I'm kind of surprised this guy ever let the proper albums come out on cd.

oh well;;guess he's just on to biggerbetter thingsnow

It was a particularly heart-breaking moment when Prindle told him how amazing the 1982 demos disc was/is, and asked if it would ever see release...and Greg just totally dismissed the entire thing by referring to it as "pirated stuff", and saying no more. No DVD of the Live '84 or My War live stuff either. Seriously?

Also, there's apparently alot of hold ups with Husker Du re-issues for similar reasons.

I believe the adjectives you used above Tim, describe things precisely.

Oh, and that invaluable SST blog was shut down...I dont know that SST had anything to do with it, but still...it was the ONLY way to hear alot of that stuff. If you do the math...what like, 80% of their releases are now totally impossible to get?

I mean, we WANT the art. We want to love and appreciate and HEAR this stuff. I was 6 years old in 1984. Didnt have a chance back then. It's basically a form of freezing out the future.

Oh, and seriously, withholding the rights to Dave Markey's Reality 86'd movie??? Thats way worse (and double the ammount of time) C Love held up The Year Punk Broke.

I'm fine with checking out Jambang and Mojack and all the new stuff. Of course. I'll listen to it. I buy his solo album when I come across them (always used, Ive never seen a new copy, ever). But to not have access to this huge and extremely significant (historically, musically, culturally, sociologically, spiritually) body of his work (and others, ahem), is just...once again see the adjectives Tim used above.

I recently re-read this, and I was extremely impressed by it all over again. I cant recommend it enough. So many of my theories/techniques correspond with this guy, its ridiculous.

Not that I'm equating myself, of course

Okay, I SWEAR I am done updating this!

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

for anyone not in the know, here's the news you can use: it is now the start of cherry season!

Rich said...

I had left quite a lengthy comment that blogger inexplicably didnt capture...so i'll re-type it later...boo

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

was it about cherries?

Rich said...

partly

then i transitioned back into an aspect from the conversation above

and by "transition" i mean "abruptly jutted into"

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

Have I mentioned how cute this post is?

Rich said...

No you havent. I think that adjective certainly applies. I think theres also ummm a certain level of kindness...you know to balance out the invective

Rich said...

Kind of like when I read you those unused parts of No More Burlesque, and said I wasnt going to use them cuz I didnt need to keep hitting people over the head. I think cute or kind w/o sneering or irony is important. Innocence > Naivete!

Rich! said...

Hey, you may already know this, but at long last our long national nightmare is behind us! Yes, Fox Chicago has started airing great episodes of the The Simpsons again. Happy days, people. Truly happy days.

Mr Bigpants Cock (of the) Walk said...

yeah! starting yesterday right? they wanted to give all the folks who suffered power outages from the flash storm a little relief from the grief

Rich said...

Yeah, yesterday was the day. Of course I missed the 5 o'clock episode, because all the traffic lights in Parks Schiller and Stone (the armpit and asshole of the Western suburbs, respectively) were out. I'm hoping enough people complained vigorously, and that they shall never inflict us with this shit ever AGAIN!
