The only Bowie book I ever read was the super bitchy lame ass "tell all" by Tony Zanetta (I didnt even read all of it- he didnt even like The Secret Life Of Arabia!)...but I have heard good things about Bowie In Berlin...I will say the chapter about Bowie in Nile Rogers' autobiography is illuminating and glorious.
and another thing. that bbc doc is a tiny little spec of an infomercial compared to the grandeur of the kraftwerk doc! Though I have 45 mins to go I think I can safely say its worth owning big time!

500 is a fool's milestone! everyone knows the true gold, glamor and kudos comes at 517.... and then, 544. and then nothing ever again
