...and not in a good way

from Greg Ginn himself

"BLACK FLAG has reformed and is in the process of putting finishing touches on a new album with founder Greg Ginn on guitar, Ron Reyes on vocals, Gregory Moore on drums and Dale Nixon on bass.

The one constant member throughout the history of BLACK FLAG, Ginn -- named one of Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time" -- defined the west coast punk sound and the DIY ethos of punk rock. Greg Ginn also currently plays with Good For You and Greg Ginn And The Royal We.

Ron Reyes of Decline Of The Western Civilization fame was the BLACK FLAG vocalist from The Church / Jealous Again era. Reyes also currently plays guitar in Piggy.

Gregory Moore has played with Gone and BLACK FLAG (2003) and brings his relentless and driving drum style to the band.

Notorious for not touring, Dale Nixon never-the-less played bass on the My War album and is the author of iconic BLACK FLAG bass lines such as Jealous Again, Nervous Breakdown, Six Pack, TV Party, Revenge, Gimme Gimme Gimme etc... etc...

While Dale has lent his skills to the new album, he is currently contractually obligated for a stint on Celebrity Rehab. Still, as he has always done in the past, he will continue to provide insight and spiritual guidance to the current bass player.

The seeds of this reformation were planted when Reyes invited Ginn to perform with him at his birthday party some two and half years ago. Needless to say -- the party was a blast and the two vowed at that time to work on some songs together. The fruition of those efforts will culminate in the release of the new album later this year.

Far from being a one-time grab, this reformation has BLACK FLAG recording and touring extensively both in the US and abroad. BLACK FLAG are excited to announce that they will be headlining the RUHRPOTT RODEO in Hünxe, Germany on May 18th 2013. BLACK FLAG are excited to announce that they will be playing the UK's Hevy Fest on Sunday August 4th. Celebrating it's 5th year this summer, Hevy is a completely independent hardcore, punk and metal festival with over 80 bands across 4 stages. The iconic band will be returning to Britain for the first time in almost 30 years, making their only UK appearance of 2013 at the festival. BLACK FLAG is headlining the Muddy Roots Music Festival in Tennessee, Saturday August 31st, 2013. Muddy Roots is 100% independent and promotes artists ranging from bluegrass, old country to punk rock and everything in between. 3 days of camping WITH 60 bands.

More festival and tour dates to be announced soon including BLACK FLAG US Tour Fall 2013.

By the way the appearance at the Hevy Fest is being billed as the 1979 Chuck Brian Migdol...or Robo, for that matter...

Meanwhile even Grant Hart is now saying that NO ONE on any of the SST bands gets paid, or as Henry said, even gets an accounting slip.

And Greg has the nerve to throw stones

This is very expected. Greg Ginn is clearly a thoughtless, selfish, cruel, pissy, dried-up turd of a dimwit. I feel for anyone who's ever had portions of their life darkened by his presence in it including his brother and all the other great artists that he's been so ignorantly lucky to cross paths with but who have burned in spite of his efforts. what a sickening god complex: spend yr youth providing a means to spread some of the greatest art of the 20th century and the remainder of yr life attempting to withhold, mute, negate, and(virtually) denounce that very work.

sometimes it feels like overwhelming contradiction that I continue to love SOME of this man's music. But it is the twitching festering mangled nerve of his sound that I love so I chalk him up to being a really dedicated method actor harr harr harr. and fuck that! he is a mere facet of that music.

I just skimmed his blather but I assume he is playing one of the albums in their entirety at some music festival.

On the bright side some of his payday will most likely go towards the cat rescuing services he supposedly provides in California.

Tim. I cannot state this clearly enough. Your comment is the exact, precise articulation that is called for. I truly could not have said it better, myself. You've got a book in you, man. I think you could take Carducci.

You mentioned dimwit, if you really want to dumb it down, check out Greg's NEW band Good For You, with singer Mike V, who he's not paying to do a straight up (and horrible) Henry impression. The music is boring as fuck, and the lyrics? The lyrics? "Hangin around like a fuckin piazza/break me open, and you'll find nada". Plus as I said, sung in the most sub-jock thug fake Henry way possible.

And on a side note...seriously...Chuck Dukowski was replaced by...a DAT of Greg playing Chuck's parts. On songs Chuck wrote. And not ever paying him. For as many angles as you can approach this from, I just can't get around that.

Unfortunately, like I said, this is just so expected. Mr. Ginn has established such a crystal clear image of himself over the years that there is absolutely zero space for extenuating circumstances or bias of any sort. and CD!..... He is the first middle and last person on the list of those I think of who have been trudged through the minefield of cruelty for many decades now. While I feel for him, I know he is a strong kindhearted brilliant individual who knows better than to let himself be affected by such idiocy really (maybe far moreso than Hank.)

If nothing else this press release and word of these songs etc is a perfect opportunity to reflect and purge this person from our lives. Wait for his demise, hold on to the relics that have slipped past his withholding. In a few decades some grandchild will release incredible things from the estate. not HIS grandchildren or course! Oh lord please tell me he is barren!oh the poor little bastards....
